Immoral, Malicious and Illegal Activities Conducted by CREW aimed at crippling Republicans/Conservatives... ChristinePAC fights back.
CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan, ChristinePAC filed an official IRS complaint against the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW), asking the agency to revoke CREW's tax-exempt status. Acting as a "charitable organization," CREW is barred from intervening in political campaigns ("electioneering") as well as participating in discriminatory activities. Assuming they are above the law, over a period of several election cycles, CREW has abused its tax-exempt status by blatantly acting on behalf of the Democratic Party as well as establishing a pattern of racially discriminatory activities.
In addition to asking the US Attorney to bring criminal charges against“The justice system should not be used as a political weapon, and CREW's illegal partisan campaign intervention in my US Senate race are well documented. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize an organization that acts in deliberate violation of the law. CREW deceptively and illegally posed as a non-partisan 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization keeping Washington politicians in check. However, in reality, CREW recklessly abused its tax exempt status by illegally intervening in political campaigns. CREW’s attacks disproportionately targeted Republican candidates and officeholders, while outright ignored scandals involving Democratic candidates and officeholders,” said former Delaware U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell.
ChristinePAC also called for an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office of CREW’s Executive Director Melanie Sloan for mail fraud, wire fraud and knowingly filing a false federal claim against Ms. O’Donnell. Sloan’s false claim against O’Donnell was ultimately dismissed by the U.S. Attorney’s office as the politically motivated nonsense that it was. Ms. Sloan’s leftist roots run deep as she’s worked for some of the most strident liberals in Congress, including Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY). In a pattern of suspicious actions surrounding CREW’s false claim against O’Donnell, Sloan failed to disclose that she used her own father (and Biden major donor) as the complainant in CREW’s FEC Complaint filed only days after Christine O’Donnell won the Republican nomination for the US Senate in 2010.
“The IRS must scrutinize CREW’s expenditures and will find a history of CREW’s blatant and illegal political activities, supported by its liberal sources of funding, which include George Soros’ Open Society Foundation and the Tides Foundation,” said Cleta Mitchell, Attorney for ChristinePAC. “There is no question that CREW has forfeited its charitable status and the IRS can draw no other conclusion.”
“When someone so blatantly breaks the law, as Melanie Sloan has, and wastes scarce government resources and tax payer dollars to carry out a political vendetta, she should face the consequences,” O’Donnell said further explaining the reason for her complaint. “Since CREW’s founding, Sloan has continually tried to use the tax payer’s dime to carry out Soros’ and her political agenda. I believe when the authorities review the mountain evidence we’ve presented to them, they, too will see it so clearly corroborates our claim.
ChristinePAC is fighting to STOP this corruption.”

What people are saying about CREW...
Christine O'Donnell, after being fully exonerated by the U.S. Attorney of Delaware:
"The justice system should not be used as a political weapon, and we're going to keep fighting back!"
Liberals gone wild: Meet the CREW crew, The Daily Caller, 8/22/11 by Terrence Scanlon:
“Election campaigns can be downright nasty and rancorous. That’s a given, but CREW far exceeded the bounds of fair play last year. Its most brazen hatchet job in recent memory came during the last election cycle when it shamelessly smeared Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell (R-Del.).,, Upholding ethics is clearly not a priority at CREW. And no wonder. Though CREW regularly lambastes other activist groups for refusing to disclose their donors, it refuses to disclose the donors that provide its own nearly $3 million budget.”
GOP Lawyer Group Leader Mitchell: IRS Should Yank CREW’s Tax-Exempt Status, Newsmax, 8/11/11 by Henry Reske & Kathleen Walter:
“’Our concern is that, for the past several election cycles, that this organization, which is a George Soros-funded, left-wing, very liberal ally of the Democratic Party, has been acting as a political organization rather than as a charitable, nonprofit entity,’ said ChristinePAC’s lawyer Cleta Mitchell.”
Time to Disarm Partisan CREW, The Washington Times, 7/29/11 by Robert Knight:
“Everyone tired of CREW’s bullying should root for Christine O’Donnell to succeed with her countercomplaint to the IRS.”
The Washington Post: Right Turn, 2/24/11 by Jennifer Rubin:
"CREW really isn't a neutral watchdog group. It has a left-wing agenda that serves the purpose of its left-wing donors… But I don't suppose CREW has any interest into looking into George Soros's multiple organizations. Well, of course not! You don't bite the hand that feeds you."
Watchdog, Donors Share Common Foes, Roll Call, 1/29/08 by Paul Singer:
"[A] review of entities against which CREW has filed complaints and information about its donors suggests that the organization may be guilty of the same practice — attacking groups and individuals who are the foes of CREW's donors."
TIME: The Hill Monitor, 10/23/06 by Karen Tumulty:
"’For an organization dedicated to holding government accountable, CREW isn't transparent about its own operations. Organized as a 501(c)3 under federal tax laws, it does not have to reveal the names of all its donors. ‘I wouldn’t have any donors if I revealed all my donors,’ says [CREW Exec. Dir.] Sloan.”
www.CREWExposed.com: “If CREW has a motto, it’s that it doesn’t bite the hand that feeds it. CREW has received money from liberal sugar daddy George Soros’ Open Society Institute and the Tides Foundation, a San Francisco-based front for funneling money to far-left causes. One of CREW’s biggest funders is the Democracy Alliance, which has given well over $100 million to liberal groups such ACORN and Emily’s List... It’s a pretty simple formula: CREW takes money from leftwing donors, and viciously attacks rightwing politicians and organizations.”
